Sunday School beginnings:
Miss Betty Vaught arrived in
Tai Po Baptist Church at that
time, Rev. Peter Leong, met her at the airport. He
invited
her to teach an English language
Sunday school class. The class began soon after that.
It averaged about 10 to 15 for
several years. Some names we would recognize of that
first class are: Thomas Tsang, and Kin
and Suen Lam. The pastors of the Tai Po
were invited to preach.
It was a struggle, from the
beginning, to let people who were outside the church, to
know of the class. However, a core
group was forming within the class. Early on,
several were saved and baptized: Chanky, Nancy, Clinton, and Carolyn Chong,
along
with Thomas Lam.
Move to Fu Heng:
In 1991, the class moved to Fu
Heng and became a ¡§preaching point¡¨
of the
Betty Vaught was ordained as a
deacon of the Tai Po Baptist Church in August 1992.
Marvin Bond was also recognized as
a deacon in 1994. After we moved, our attendance
increased gradually.
First Pastor:
Dr. Joshua Wong became pastor in
the fall of 1993. His two sons, Allan and Art,
were soon saved and baptized. On
became an official chapel of the Tai Po
Baptist Church.
Second Pastor:

pastor at the Church, Pastor Jim West retired officially on
March27, 2005 and returned to his
